I WISH Food

My husband went to work Thursday morning to be informed that his position was cut. Normally I would shop on Saturday and the check would be covered by my Tuesday deposit. I could not do that, we have 5 children and my ill mother to care for, we have no savings, and no one to turn to for help. Unemployment stated it could be up to three weeks to get a check due to the holidays. We desperately need food/diapers.

    Craigslist, Freecycle.. Local Food Pantry or Local Churches, call them explain your situation, Angelfoodministries.com is good..

    There is an Angel Food Ministry site in your town at the First Christian Church. The phone number is 641-456-2285. You can order enough food to feed a family of 4 for 1 week for $30 and they accept food stamps. There is a menu to choose from. Please check out their website:

    Please pass on the info to the website to anyone who is in need of food at a reasonable price. Maybe you can get enough donations to get you started there?

    Alleybee~ I really wish I was able to assit you right now, but like so many others I am too strapped..
    Have you tried St Vincent De Paul?
    Contact the churches in your area..
    Also you might beable to contact WIC I know here they have extras for mothers in need.. HTH

    We get foodstamps, the amount was based on hubbies full time position and my fulltime student status, so the amount will go up in 2 months when the month that he is without work is used to determine our benefit amount. No soup kitchens, we are in a very small town, no community centers or anything and we utilized the pantry when he was laid off (for a few weeks a few months ago), and they have a time frame. Trust me, I am busy looking which is hard on the weekend. I do appreciate your kindness in replying.

    can you get emergency food stamps? do you have soup kitchens nearby? have you asked on craigslist or freecycle for diapers? good luck I wish I could help but we are strapped this season as well
