I know how strict those DOT things are, my hubby was a truck driver before he was laid off. I hope he can get this worked out and get his health back in order. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong.

Adding him to my prayers, I have never had high blood pressure and was so nervous the last time I went it was high! Hopefully it will go down soon and he can get rolling in his truck. God Bless - Donna MO Chapter

Onewhocares, I have PM'd you. Thank you for your generosity!
Darbysgirl, we will certainly check into Church Health Center. Thank you for the information! Yes, I do check his BP before he goes to the dr. He has always had "white coat syndrome", but of course DOT goes by what the dr says. Your information is appreciated.

Bumble, have you checked into the Church Health Center which is for uninsured Shelby County residents on a sliding scale? If not here is a link,http://www.churchhealthcenter.org/receivingcare
Good luck as a lot of my dad's family is on blood pressure meds. Sometimes blood pressure is elevated because of anxiety of doctor's office or report you will get. Do you have a meter at home to keep check on his readings?
I know it will not help with DOT but it will show if he is worsing before doctor visit.

OhHappyDay, thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately, going to a store doesn't work. His blood pressure has to be documented, as he is a truck driver and this is for his D.O.T. card.
By the way, I LOVE your screen name! :-)

I am so sorry you are facing these trials. The major grocery stores near me have automatic blood pressure machines. I know it is no match for a visit with a physician but could it work in the short term? Target, Walmart, and most grocery chains have them in the pharmacy department. It is free. I pray an angel with the financial means to grant your wish is found. I know you need money coming IN, not just prayers and advice. You will be in my daily prayers. God bless and keep you.

Thank you for the prayers, deanandrose. Money needs to be coming in in order to talk to a financial advisor, but I will certainly keep his in mind for the future. We did check into the fire dept checking his blood pressure, but it has to be documented , so that went out the window. I do appreciate the info on the lowering BP, paulap401.

Call your local Fire. Dept, rescue Squad, paramedics. they will take your bloodpressure and you won't have to drive 11 miles. They won't charge you. Remember they are our Hero's!

If your husband is able, he should walk a minimum of 30 min. every day. This will take his blood pressure down somewhat. He should also cut down on caffeine, and have his checks in the afternoon rather than the morning. There's probably other research you can do on the internet to lower bp. Good luck to you.
