I WISH for a voice for his 5th birthday

My wish is for my friends Jaden and his father Richie who live in Alberta Canada.
Jaden was born with a defect that required him to have a trachea since birth. He has lived with it for five years, unable to talk or eat due to it. Due to the frustration of being unable to communicate Jaden began hitting himself. He now must wear weights on his wrists to keep him from hurting himself.
Recently, after so much prayer,his trachea was removed for the first time. However, last week he was hospitalized with pneumonia and had to be re-trached. He was also heavily sedated so that his body could heal. His father said although he was sedated tears would still fall from his closed eyes. He is getting better though, and they are going to attempt removing the trachea today or tomarrow.
Jaden is far behind those his own age due to his condition. This is frustrating for him, and heart breaking for his family.
My wish is that for Jaden's 5th birthday (begining of April), that he would be given a voice of his own, a way to communicate.
I have attached a link to a device called an MV-1000. It is a communication device made for children with such conditions. I truely belive that this could help him so much. I have $50.00 toward it's purchase, but the cost is $398.00.
Also, cards for Jaden would be great. Lot of prayer is always needed. And his father Richie has strong faith, but even the greatest warriors can grow weary. Letters of encouragement for him would be awesome.

  I don't think you will have to contact administration since Josh is already involved they should be aware of it. I think it is amazing how much progress has already been made on your wish in less than 24 hours. This community is truly something else.

  I was informed recently that if someone from the wish upon a hero administration bought a used palm and paid the 25.00 for shipping the digital voice company would donate the 200.00 software. I think it has to be the administration though (prob. a tax write-off thing). The palm tungsten e2 is the palm they suggest. They are on e-bay for about 100.00. Does anyone know how to go about contacting administration?

  I contacted the company that makes the digital voice tech and they responded:
  If you could get an administrator at Wish Upon a Hero to purchase the Palm and pay the $25 s/h we would gladly donate the software. We just donated a copy of the software last month to the Illinois Chapter and that's how we proceeded with the transaction. Does anyone know how to proceed with this?

  Have you looked into the Ability Society of Alberta?
  http://www.abilitysociety.org/enable.htm#crc
  This will take you to the assessment, their staff will travel all over Alberta to assess clients for Assistive and Augmentative Communication Devices (AAC) which is what you are looking for.
  Or you can go through the Speech Pathologist that is assigned to the school - if he is in school.
  In theory the government should pay for the item - either through the Ministry of Education or this program:
  http://www.seniors.gov.ab.ca/aadl/PilotProjects/SGCD/default.asp
  It says Seniors but from what I read, I believe you would qualify.
