My name is Joel. My fiance and our three children moved to Florida
a year ago in hopes of starting a new life. I have family here and
was promised work and a place to live. The promised job fell
through and I have been unable to gain stable employment. My family
here has been less than supportive and we are now looking at the
strong possibility of homelesness. One of our children has been
diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, and thus needs special care and
therapy. Everywhere we have turned for help is either unable to
help due to lack of funds or space, or think that we should give up
our children. The only option we have now is to go back to
Missouri, where we know that we have a place to stay and still be
together as a family. We have lost the vehicle that we had when we
moved down, so our only option to get there is by bus. I have
priced the tickets through Greyhound, and the cheapest I could find
was just over $800. I can come up with about half of this, so I am
asking for help with the other half. I know that this is alot to
ask, but I don't know what else to do. I had been juggling whatever
money we could get to keep a roof over our heads, but without a
vehicle, I lost the job I had just started in June and have been
since served with eviction papers. I keep holding on to the beliefe
that if I keep trying, and keep my head up, God will provide a
solution, and this is all I have been able to come up with. We have
been put on a waiting list with a family shelter here, but they
said it could take months for a space to open up, and we are
runnung out of time. We have someplace to stay in Independence, MO
waiting for us, and I was hoping to not have to make such a big
move again, but it seems to be our only option. We have to be out
of this house by the end of the month, and I know that it is short
notice and is alot to ask for, but I am asking for someone to
