My sister, is one of my heroes. She has been through it all. She was 15 when she had her son. Her and the father worked hard to over-come alot to stay together and raise a wonderful son. She got blessed again many years later with another son. Now she has a 15 year old and a 2 year old. She is a great mom, sister, wife, and teacher. Her and her husband are stil together after all these years. ( true love does exist) Dispite teenage pregnacy ,she went back to school, got her GED and then went to college.
Today something happened that just blew me away. Not in a million years did I think that my 5 year old would do what he just did. Here is the story.....
This afternoon I took my kids to an event that was happening here for kids. It was in a park and everything was free for the kids. One of the things they had there was a drawing for 4 kids bikes. I put my kids names in because they wanted to but really didn't need the bikes as they already had ones that were only a few months old.
Since I was a little kid I've always been in love with Europe. My goal since I was younger is to go and start my life there. Well I had figured that when I graduated high school I would be able to go and start college there. MY problem occurred when I was in 8th grade. My dad had an aneurysm. After his surgery he was o.k. but he had an infection and had two strokes.
My daughter, who is 2 1/2, is is need of a new car seat. She is a special needs child with a rare muscle disorder known as Myotubular Myopathy. I have found the seat that she needs on sale, but cannot afford to pay for it.
Do you recall the Great American Smoke out; an event where smokers were asked to not smoke for one day?
I'd like to challenge you to the 1st annual WISH OUT Challenge. This weekend, July 19th & 20th let's take a break from posting wishes. Instead let’s ban together & make it a weekend of giving.
My daughter had a good friend who was recently murdered in the line of duty. He was a NC state trooper. He was gunned down on the shoulder of the road on I-40 in NC. Trooper Shawn was an inspiration for many young folks as he teached youth football and girl's softball at the high school level. He was very special to us and now he is gone.
He left behind a newborn, pre-mature son in neonatal ICU. This weekend we are having a softball tournament in Sylva, NC at Mark Watson Park to honor him and raise money for the baby. My daughter's team is participating. The winning team will be the team who raises the most in donations.
I saw this story on the news tonight, I don't know this family personally, but I immediately knew I wanted to post this wish. This couple has nine kids, that in and of itself says life isn't too easy for them. I'm sure they are as financially strapped as the rest of us. They were hit by a drunk driver over 4th of July weekend when they were on their way home from a movie at the drive in.
Brian is a 20 year old college student, studying to be a health and physical education teacher. Last week, while doing a flip at a gymnastics center, and landing into a pit of foam which should have been a safe landing, Brian broke his neck....
This wish is on behalf of a boy who suffers from multiple medical conditions, the most severe being Cancer. His condition is critical; he is in and has been in the hospital for several weeks.
We originally featured this wish back in May. It took a lot of heroes to almost get this wish completely granted. The family has already received 2 Plane tickets, Disney World Tickets, and a place to stay. But we still need help with less than a week left. Click the link to read the latest update to the wish.
****THIS WISH HAS BEEN VERIFIED AND APPROVED BY WISH UPON A HERO ADMINISTRATION****
