Christmas is that wonderful time of year that just seems to bring out the best in many people. It was strong enough to heal the heart of crotchety old Ebenezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens' classic 'A Christmas Carol.'

Well there is no hint of a Scrooge attitude in the hearts of the McGloughlin family of Placerville. The family's love and caring for others shines as bright as a star and is a beacon of hope for those needing help this holiday season. The family includes Bre, 48, her husband Stephen, 45, and their three small children Brendan, 5, Matthew, 3, and Abby, 2.

Bre learned about a Website called Wish Upon a Hero from the Freecycle Website she visits frequently. 'On this site people give things away for free and then a woman told me about the wish site - I don't even remember who it was - but now I'm hooked,' said McGloughlin, a stay at home mom.
